There Will Be Blood DVD : The 3rd Revelation Edition

Ladies and gentlemen... I've gathered over half of the DVD collection I have now in just this last year. I couldn't reach my current total sooner because the older DVDs were still coming in at Coyote Hills and I had to see about them. That source has increased the quality of my collection by two-thousand percent and it's entertaining me and mine to the tone of five thousand smiles a week. I have two others shipping and I have sixteen producing at Antelope. So, ladies and gentlemen... if I say I'm a DVD man you will agree.

Now, in the theaters I enjoyed the film The Will Be Blood several times, and when I heard it was out on DVD I set a specific time apart to obtain it because That was one goddamn helluva show.

At a local retailer I stopped and looked for said DVD in the front area where newly released titles were typically displayed, but all I could find was a teaser version in a folded piece of cardboard.

Wait, wait, what is this?
The folded piece of cardboard WAS the DVD's Case!?!
I simply couldn't believable.

Now... I have a competition in me. I want all of my DVDs and their cases to look pristine. Most DVD releases are alright, and some are even quite nice. On the other hand, there are times when I look at DVDs and I see nothing worth liking. The sight alone of the There Will Be Blood DVD furrowed my brow and dropped my jaw.

While my face frozen was shock, my shoulders pushed closer to my neck and I raised my arms with my palms turned upwards as if lofting some invisible offering to the DVD Gods. Another surveyor of DVDs was standing next to me, and from the expression on their face I could tell we shared the same concern.

"Why would they put them out in such a matter? Have they lost their minds?" he asked, looking to me for some sort of explanation.

"I don't know." I replied exhaustedly, "Maybe it will change. Does your mind come back to you? I don't know. Maybe no one knows that. A doctor might not know that."

The prospector turned to me and queried, "What would you tell the people responsible for these DVD cases if you met them?"

"Hmm...," I pondered out loud as I raised my hand to my chin, "One night I'm gonna come to you, inside of your house, wherever you're sleeping, and I'm gonna cut your throat. "

...

With that the prospector left me in search for greener pastures.

Well I purchased the the special edition DVD seeing as it had 3 folds of cardboard instead of 2. Much nicer... There was still a surprise in store for me.

The discs were held in these cardboard sleeves, and very tightly. So tight that it was difficult to carefully remove them.

No worries, H.W., I am sure the DVD distribution companies know what are doing.
Why would they design packaging that damage their product? They must have been working for quail prices.

Since I splurged to get special 2 disc edition, I pried out the extras disc as carefully as was possible given the circumstances. The Extras that were included were indeed sub-par. Oh well, I will just drop it back into its papery place... (Spoiler: It doesn't just drop back in to place... it must be forced.)

I was as carefully as I could possibly be, using every technique to have less abrasion on the data surface of the disc. These were the fruits of (the devil) my labors.

Whichever Steinberg it was who decided this was the best way to keep my DVD safe... "I told you what I was gonna do. "

It doesn't look too bad in the picture, bit it is scratched (not smudged) in two different places from pulling and and re-inserting the disc ONCE!!! (with the actual feature disc, I never put it back into the cardboard case. It hid away in some neutral case until arrangements could be made.)
...

No use crying over spilled whiskey-milk. Time to work that old Porter "Fix-it" magic. Not on the extras disc, forget that. The case needs be corrected.
I happened to have this freebie case lying around the house. I take out the cover of the case and measure it up with the TWbB case. Pretty close.

I pulled out my always handy Razor blades and went to work.

Snip snap, snip snap indeed. (If you are looking for a detailed "how to" discription: Cut the thirde section out containing the Extras disc, and then trim the left and right sides so that it fits in the plastic. Don't worry about the "binding" part of the cover. It is meant to look like an old book [bible] so creases only add to it.)

Then slip it in! I was not particularly concerned with hiding the fact that I had to butcher a DVD's original case to make this, so the edges are not very pretty.

The side of the DVD doesn't have a title on it, so you will have to remember what movie it is. It actually fits in nicely with the other film cases that are meant to look like books. (Royal Tenenbaums and Army of Darkness 2 in my case)

With the third section of the special edition, you can slip that on the inside holder of DVD case. It will still scratch the hell out of the disc, but I wouldn't worry about too many people wanting to see what is actually on it.

I'm finished.

"Free" time.

Well, Thursday of last week I was let go from my job of 3.17 years at XanGo.
Quite a few people were let go actually. The company "Reallocated" us to not employed by them anymore.

I am actually not upset about getting laid off (is it a lay off?) because I was done there, and had already applied to a new job and was looking for options for gainful employment.

I am glad that I didn't quit, because then I wouldn't have received a very fair severance package from the company. Very fair, and based from how long I had worked for them.

In case you are saddened by the awesome, yet very sad, homeless picture I have included Rawr cat.

It gives me enough to last for a while as long as I don't go out and buy a new TV or have some huge repair on my car. It let me Zero out what I owed on my credit card, which I had already lowered pretty well before that.

Now I don't really have any specific responsibilities to focus on.
I guess it means it really is time to go Back To School.
(Da da daaaa)
And get a part time job.

[Kind of Sales-Pitchy here, so... don't mind this part.
I didn't really mean to go into this with so much detail, but if you are interested in what my plans are, here was the sales pitch version ;) the short version is I will be trying to become involved in the distribution of this financial tool, and if it doesn't work out then no harm done, really.
--

I have a particularly interesting opportunity to be a part of a company called UWin Financial. The company uses some online software that looks very handy in becoming more, as they are putting it, "Financially Intelligent."
What it does is lets you input your various loans and payments you make on you car, house, electric... all of the things you pay for basically. Then calculated the interest rates and the other things that effect how much TOTAL you will end up paying based on your current patterns.

In the end it is a very sophisticatedly programmed financially planner that you gain access to online by paying the subscription fee.

This is something that will help me, since I can be a little careless with my finances (Most times I don't even think about it... which is less stressful, but not exactly wise).

On top of that, the company is pretty unique in their market. Where many other direct sales products are new aged health juices, and health products. This company is the only one the actual product is aimed at helping people financially, while at the same time aiding them through residual commissions.

If I find a few people who need the product and are willing to use it, then that will cover the cost for me to use it myself, which is cool.

If I find 3-4 people who want to actually be serious about distributing it to people, then I could really do well. And I wouldn't have to have a part time job outside of working with them while I go to school. I could really appreciate that with how much I detest schoolwork.

Well, that would be great, but I will have to see what the interest is before I put a lot of weight into that system. (Hehe, if anybody is interested in either aspects, let me know. Don't do me any favors or anything like that... but if you are going to do somebody a favor let it be me :D )
--Sorry for the shameless pluggery

I am also working out now, which is nice of course. It comes in pretty handy living so close to provo canyon, and the trail is pretty calm. I would rather be biking than running any day, but the bike I have now is... about three million years old. so what was once a wonderful 10 speed, is now a worn down 2 speed.

It was kind of scary to ride the bike too, as when I got to the steeper parts of the trail and had to put some muscle into it, the chain started skipping and I immediately braced to fall face first into the pavement.

It didn't happen, but I was convinced enough that it wasn't going to make it to bridal vale, much less nuns park or vivian's for that matter.

So... not really that far. I guess running will have to be good enough. (more impact, less travel... boooring.)

So another request... if somebody out there wants to buy me a new mountain bike for no good reason, let me know. I promise to ride it and wash it and all of those things.

We helped you out!

It is easy enough for me to ignore email forwards, as they come in our email and I can tell I don't want to even open it based on the sender and the subject.

However, Xango LLC has sirsrumvrented the law of email tricks and has force all employee's web-browsers to automatically and constantly be reset to the companies inter office website. (String of explicatives...)

Its not a huge deal, but I have this crap pop up in my face whenever I use my AOLinterwebnets.com

(If you want the code, send me a PM, I will see you THERE!)

I instantly feel embarrassed for me and my company, thus making me check over my shoulder to see if anybody noticed.

It is a constant barrage of advertisements.

Seriously?!
Ask any fat ass (like me) with a pass to Golds how much Gold's Gym will try... nay, THINK of motivating you to attend their facilities. I would never go there if it weren't for racquetball.
(if you want to play ball or run a few kilomiters on the mill, send me a PM and I will meet you THERE!)

It isn't just the subject matter either, but there presentation of the information.

Good lord...
Ok, Anectdote intermission.
XanGo Christmas Party 2007 - Worst yet.
and I quote one of my favourite company founders (founder, lol, that is funny to me)
"Do you want this gift, or whats in my pocket [inappropriate]... Pocket? Alright, hmmm... Ooohhh, Money! There are 18 bills in here with a President who's name starts with B!" - A.G.

My dad says, "Uh... Bush? do they know that Franklin was NOT a president?"

-- End anecdote.
Apparently, almost 3 months has passed and they STILL aren't sure about that bit of trivia. (Heads up guys, Alexander Hamilton also wasn't a president, for future money references)

This is one of three where they say, "thank the gods we don't have to work!" when many people in the company did, in fact, have to work.

It isn't always bad... there are a few that are pleasant. (counting 2/41... so far... both icecream)

Am I looking a gift horse in the mouth? I really don't think so.
...

So the point is I hate all this trash that the company is trying to force onto us. Like freaking telemarketers!
Hey wait... How about this one?
Betty Sue got an email from her 127 year old grandmother, which gave our entire company a heads up!!! here it comes!

While the do not call register is real, it isn't needed. I double checked the interwebs to see if this was still the case, and it seems to be that cell phones are still safe.

Here is a site at least that says so.

it is from October, so...
I guess maybe it is old.

I will not be surprised to see them put something up about a Nigerian prince who has a million dollars, but needs somebodies bank account to transfer it to the united states. If you are interested contact Kelly in HR.

I apologize to Zillah if you happen to have thought this was a new post, only to find that I am redirecting you back to your own blog.

Any people out there that actually like anything I have ever said on my blog should be reading hers for it is ______ times better than mine.

OMG muslims!

I am borrowing this from a forum thread titled "Repository for offensive E-mail forwards".

It pretty much makes me as proud to be an American as I can be.

---
We must get this message out to all we can, before this country has a Muslim as our leader--can you image what better way to conquer a country than from the inside? This is serious folks and we need to get this into the homes of as many voters as possible. I sent a picture not long ago of this man with his back to the flag while Hillary and Edwards had their hand over their heart--reciting the pledge of allegiance. Why would he use the Koran and not the Bible when sworn into office as a congressman IF he were, indeed, a Christian? Anyone can lie and profess faith in Jesus Christ and I certainly think that ALL of this points to his doing just that. Why would he not pledge allegiance to our flag, unless his allegiance lies elsewhere?? What does this man have to do to prove he is anti-American and anti-Christian. The Bible tells you they will come as lambs--but inside are as ravenous wolves--WE (you and I) are the infidels that they pledge to wipe from the face of the earth. What more proof does the American populace need?? One last thing--where do you think the money for his campaign is coming from--oil cartels--Osama Bin Laden???? It's time to "Wake Up America!!!"

I don't know about you, but this scares the beejeebers out of me! Please pass this on--IF we can reach as many households as is possible before election day--just maybe (and I PRAY) it will make people stop and think and vote for a tried and true American!

Who is Barack Obama?

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts...this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it.

We checked this out on "snopes.com". It is factual. Check for yourself.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from
Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia ?

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad a gainst the western world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out. What better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!!
---

There is one thing I really liked about this though.
It would be great if he took his oath of office on the Koran!
I would love to hear all of the people crying about how that is somehow any different from taking an oath on a bible.

Goodbye Orem's Rose...

My once noble chariot belongs now to another, and he may be far creepier than I am.

I know... hard to believe.

I am most lazy so I will not recount the many special workings of the truck, but you can read My Brother's Post if you are familiar with our 89' Toyota Pickup, and its legendary abilities to slip-slide its way to victory. (or almost victory in James' case... I never hit anybody with that truck. Sometimes you have to just let'er slide.)

Anyway... Carry on.

You're all doing very well.

[Also thank you to all of the people who are willing to check in and see that there is usually nothing new to see. I am sure there is some thing that lets you people know I have put something new up.]

It is getting quite cold lately.

"And the cold is God's way of telling us we need to burn more Catholics."

<3 Catholics... sortof.

I just wanted to make sure I had a post in the month of December. I have more pictures of Movies in their Rank and File, but they are on my home computer, which has been sitting in my room, wires disconnected, and to my content doing nothing more than collecting dust.

I think that I get more than enough computing here at work, with the 7.5 hours of which I am neither doing work nor eating lunch.

I feel like I am moonlighting as an internet guardian while at work.

Huh...

Everyone carry on.
